New life again! He is Risen!
After a cold and flu marathon of 6 weeks, we made a trek to our favorite gardens. Not much blooming right now, but still plenty to please the eye.
How can I make my ambition Your ambition?
Every now and then, unworldly inspiration and imagination penetrates
this sin-chained mind, this bone-bound spirit,
and I rejoice,
but just as quickly, flesh presses in—
pride presses in,
puffing me up, showing me what a wonderful thing I did for God.
Is there any hope to live a pure life,
a noble life,
when wriggling in skin and bone, a soul enslaved?
But to be free.
My peace lily has not bloomed in years. This must be the season!
Let there be peace!
Purify my crooked little heart, my tired heart, my heart so full of idols.
May I seek You with my whole weeping heart in these days,
these seeing-only-one-step-ahead days,
these tearfully trusting pavement-beating moments
when I hold on to fragile faith.
Lord, shine through will and world and cover me.
